Switzerland does not have one electricity price but several hundred: each grid operator applies its own tariff, so the municipality determines the supplier for a consumer without access to the open market. Tariffs are published annually by consumption profile.
For an energy-hungry business — catering with a kitchen, bakery, fitness centre, refrigerated shop — the gap between municipalities commonly doubles for identical consumption. It is one of the rare operating costs that you choose along with the municipality, and one of the most often left out of the budget.
